Imagination Seminar – Dr. Frank Lee “Public Play: Exploring the Interaction Between the City and Play”

For the last 10 years, I’ve explored the interaction between the city and play through large-scale interactive games and public installations. They include Pong on the Cira Centre (2013), Skyscraper Tetris (2014), Skyscraper Games by Kids (2019), Civil Dialog(2020), SIMPHL (2021), and Story Seek (2024), and others. They are part of my vision for a new form of play that uses existing and emerging technologies to create city-scale games. In my talk, I will describe these projects in more detail and then discuss the cultural and societal implications of what it means to play in public.
